On the tiny island of Curaçao, manager Vernon Isabella has sent his Little League All-Stars to the World Series for an incredible seven consecutive years, routinely defeating such baseball powerhouses as Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. How do they do it?
The documentary, Boys of Summer, attempts to crack the code of Curaçao’s phenomenal success. Exploring what baseball means to the island, the film follows the boys over the course of one summer, in which they are challenged to keep the winning streak alive. At its core, Boys of Summer is about the universally beloved pastime of baseball but also a story of carrying the privilege and the burden of a nation's pride against all odds.
