The Washington Post says the ensemble Sandbox Percussion is “revitalizing the world of contemporary music.”
They stopped by our studios with the composer Viet Cuong to perform and talk a bit about the music they play. There are 2 chances to see them this weekend as part of the Albany Symphony’s American Music Festival. On Friday, June 2, at 7:30pm at EMPAC, they premiere Viet Cuong’s Renewal for Percussion Quartet and Chamber Ensemble. And on Saturday, June 3, at 3pm, also at EMPAC, they perform works by Steve Reich, David Crowell and more.
