Learn the warning signs of a heart attack and what to do in case of a cardiac emergency. On September 5, 2002, the National Academies' Institute of Medicine released new guidelines for healthy eating that offer Americans more flexibility in balancing fat and carbohydrates. The report also calls for at least an hour of daily physical activity, twice the amount suggested in a 1996 report from the Surgeon General. The new report concludes that the previously recommended half-hour of exercise is insufficient to maintain recommended weight in adults. Instead, it urged a total of 60 minutes of moderate activity, such as swimming, brisk walking or jogging, to both maintain weight and obtain other health benefits. Discover how you can incorporate these new guidelines into your lifestyle. GUESTS: Kim Ann Poli, MD.
