On the next Health Link we'll be discussing Glaucoma, an intense visual impairment that affects more than 2 million Americans each year. Glaucoma is the leading cause of preventable blindness in the U.S. - the key word being preventable. Find out what you need to know to minimize your risk and ensure early detection. GUESTS: Sai B. Gandham, MD Dr. Gandham has directed the glaucoma service since he joined the full-time faculty of the Albany Medical Center in 1997. He holds a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor at Albany Medical College in the Department of Ophthalmology. He is also director of medical student education in ophthalmology at the Albany Medical College. Dr. Gandham has published more than 25 scholarly articles, most focusing on the manifestations and treatment of glaucoma. Albert M. Morier, OD Dr. Morier is in private practice with two part time optometrists, three ophthalmic dispensers in Schenectady. Since 1990 he practices two days a week at Albany Medical College, The Lion's Eye Institute in Albany where he is an Instructor in Clinical Ophthalmology in the cornea department. Robert Schultze, MD Dr. Robert Schultze is an ophthalmologist and is Co- Medical Director at the Albany TLC Laser Center and at Cornea Consultants of Albany. He holds a faculty appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Albany Medical College Department of Ophthalmology and has also served as Director of the Albany Medical College Eye Clinic. In addition, Dr. Schultze is Associate Medical Director of the Lions Eye Bank at Albany and sits on the National Accreditation Committee of the Eye Bank Association of America. Web Resources
