Bereavement Airs: Tuesday, January 16, 2006 at 7:30pm Repeats: Sunday, January 21, 2006 at Midnight Mourning the death of a loved one is a process all of us will go through. Whether the death is sudden or anticipated, somehow we are never prepared for it or for the grief it brings. On the next Health Link we'll examine the grieving process and offer resources to help you through this difficult time. We'll also share suggestions on how to support someone who is suffering the loss of a loved one. GUESTS: Liz Smith, LCSW Liz is the Supervisor of Bereavement Services for The Community Hospice. She's a licensed certified social worker and oversees staff members in seven counties who provide grief counseling and bereavement services for adults, teenagers and children. These services are free and available to everyone, whether or not the person who died was a Hospice patient. Keli Rugenstein, PhD, LMSW Keli is a Psychologist at Samaritan Counseling Center located in Scotia, NY. She is a New York State Certified Social Worker. She graduated from the University at Albany and her undergraduate degree is in Psychology. Keli works with couples, families and individuals. She specializes in interventions with clergy, clergy families and churches in crisis. She has co-facilitated workshops for clergy leadership and couples who wish to get a "check-up" on their marriage. Keli is a member of the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion, the Religious Research Association, and the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and an affiliate member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Mary Jo Belles Mary Jo Belles is President of the Albany Chapter of Beginning Experience (BE). Mary Jo has been widowed for 6 years has 3 children and is a Pre-School teacher at St. Pius X School in Loudonville. Beginning Experience is an international peer ministry for people who have suffered the loss of a relationship through death, divorce or separation. It is Christian-based, but open to people of all denominations. It is primarily intended for those who have lost a spouse or partner, but is appropriate for anyone who is experiencing grief. Ellen McNulty-Ryan Ellen is owner and licensed manager of the McNulty Funeral Home located in Green Island. Ellen is also the Mayor of the Village of Green Island. Web Resources

The center is intentionally holistic and attends to issues of body, mind and spirit, offering outpatient psychotherapy for adults, children, families and couples. The Hospice Foundation of America is a not-for-profit organization that provides leadership in the development and application of hospice and its philosophy of care.
